"Health Words in the Word" Book Updates
Sept 2006 + Aug 2008- #of new cases; leprosy +
There is a frequency of new cases for diseases such as Avian Flu or HIV/AIDS. Even leprosy which some of us may think is eradicated has a frequency of 65 new cases every hour in the world. Leprosy=Hansen's disease

leprosy - NT - NIV/KJV Matthew 8:3; Mark 1:42; Luke 5:12,13
- about 24 Bible references in the Old and New Testaments
la lèpre - French
Lepra - German
λεπρα - Greek
lalèp - Haitian
la lebbra - Italian
lepra - Latin
trąd - Polish
ukoma - Swahili
проказа - Russian
- more generic translation:
- skin disease - English
- Aussatz - German

As for a description from Page 28 of "Health Words in the Word":
Leprosy IS:
an illness (of) - skin - now - and - at the time of - Jesus
eine Krankheit - (der) Haut - jetzt - und - zur Zeit des - Jesus - German

References for words had not given. Here are some:
illness - Galatians 4:13
skin - Job 2:4 +
now - Romans 6:8 +
and - Revelation 22:13 +
at the time (of) - Matthew 1:11
Jesus - many references in the New Testament

All of us would surely like to work toward the truth of:

Those who have leprosy are cured. - Matthew 11:5
Melaatsen zijn genezen. - Dutch
Les lépreux sont guéris. - French
Aussätzige/Leprakranke werden geheilt. - German
Moun ki te gen maladi lalèp yo geri. - Haitian
I lebbrosi sono guariti. - Italian
Los leprosos son limpiados. - Spanish

Lepers are cured today, if they receive the combination of medications they need earlier rather than when disabilities manifest.

It would be nice to change the sentence to be able to say:
Those who have Avian Flu have been cured. - Adaption
Those who have AIDS have been cured. - Adaption
Vogelgrippenkranke werden geheilt.
Aidskranke werden geheilt. - German
More info later on this page.

In any case, the doctor can reassure patients if (s)he can offer a sickness management regime for the particular disease:
This sickness will not end in death. - John 11:4
Diese Krankheit führt nicht zum Tod. - German
Esta enfermedad no terminará en muerte. - Spanish

In addition to the medication, the following is still needed.

Cleanse the lepers. - Matthew 10:8
Genees melaatsen. - Dutch
Purifiez les lépreux. - French (Nettoyez ...)
Mondate i lebbrosi. - Italian
Oчищайте прокаженных. - Russian
Limpiad leprosos. - Spanish

In July 2006, the promotional material from

Leprosy Relief, a member of ILEP
(International Federation of Anti-Leprosy Associations)

stated:
65 people get leprosy every hour; 11 are children

We "can" state the idea of this particular sentence with words from Bible references in many languages.
See the model and the references given, so that others can find the wordings they need more easily. The English and 2 language examples.

Leprosy:
65 - people - every hour;
11 - are children

Les lépreux:
soixante cinq - personnes - à toute heure
onze - sont enfants/(fils et filles) - French

Lepra:
fünfundsechzig - Leute/Menschen - jede Stunde
elf - sind Kinder - German

Bible references:

Leprosy - see above examples

65 - Isaiah 7:8
sesenta y cinco - Italian
sextíu og fimm - Icelandic
shan(5) iyo lixdan(60) - Somali

people/persons/righteous ones
- with other numbers to compare:
5 people/righteous ones; 45 (people) - Genesis 18:28

66 persons/souls - Genesis 46:26
soixante-six personnes - French
sechsundsechzig Seelen - German
sesenta y seis personas - Spanish

every hour - 1 Corinthians 15:30
ad ogni ora - Italian
hora a hora (hour to hour) - Portuguese
a todas horas - Spanish

11 - eleven - 2 Kings 23:36
onze - French
elf - German
kow(1) iyo toban(10) - Somali

"are" children
- Luke 20:36 (subject-3rd person plural)
compare John 3:2
"sont" des enfants/(fils et filles) - French
"sind" Kinder - German
"sono" figli - Italian
"sunt" filii - Latin
"son" hijos - Spanish

This is a particular example of statistical analysis that can be given in various languages for other diseases.
For instance many whole numbers are given in the Bible and those given can be used to interpolate most other numbers needed for a statistical sentence.
***************************************************************
To generalize curing of other sick people from the wordings regarding lepers (those who have leprosy):

a) Those who have _____ are cured. - Matthew 11:5
b)______ are cured. - English
b)______ zijn genezen. - Dutch
b)______ sont guéris. - French
a)______kranke werden geheilt. - German
a)Moun ki te gen maladi _____ yo geri. - Haitian
b)______ sono guariti. - Italian
b)______ son limpiados. - Spanish

The sentences of a) require the name of the sickness in the blank, such as leprosy, herpes, dysentery.
The sentences of b) require the names of the sick people in the plural, such as: The lepers; the AIDS persons; The ____ carriers; the women; in the blank.
