Asia and South America have major outbreaks in 2007. Dengue is not a new disease. There are many cases in the Philippines. Please pray especially for the children. *************************************************************** Stats: a) In the Philippines in the second week of Oct. 2007 the dengue sick were counted as: four thousand - Mark 8:9 + the number of a feeding of the multitudes cuatro mil - Spanish b) In South America in 2007 the numbers until October: six hundred thousand - Numbers 11:21 seiscientos mil - Spanish *************************************************************** Rest (in bed), fluids (water) and pain relief for the joints and muscles is in order, as there is no approved vaccine nor cure at this time. There are 4 known types of dengue: DEN-1; DEN-2; DEN-3 and DEN-4 according to the CDC. Immunity to one does not give immunity to the other three. Infections at one time with more than one type are common. *************************************************************** "Dengue" naturally is not a word in the Bible. The "gue" spelling indicates to me that the word has a French and/or Spanish connections. However, to find "dengue" in many even uncommon languages, I rendered it in (1 consonant + 1 vowel) syllables as best as I can from names and places in the Bible as examples for the other languages: De-né-gé (Deng-gé - ng not a Bible sound) De - Demas - Philemon 1:24 Decapolis (sometimes 10 cities xxx) - Matthew 4:25 De - English De - German Dé - French De - Spanish De - Swahili Ðê - Vietnamese Ne - Neri - Luke 3:27 Ne - English Né - French Ne - German Ne - Spanish Ne - Swahili Nê - Vietnamese Ge - Gera - Genesis 46:21 Ge - English Gué - French Ge - German Ge - Spanish Giê - Vietnamese Gethsemane - NT Gethsemane - German Gethsémané - French Getsemaní - Spanish Gethsemane - Swahili Best Bible pronunciation for dengue fever I found so far using the (1 consonant + 1 vowel) Bible syllables: De-ne-ge - English (dengue is of course the official spelling) De-ne-ge - German (Den-ge) Dé-né-gué - French De-ne-ge - Spanish De-ne-ge - Swahili Ðê-Nê-Giê - Vietnamese These are samples only. It's a little step...please use YOUR talents too...prayer and practical talents. *************************************************************** According to takeourword.com, this is the history of the word "dengue": When Europeans began to colonise Africa they encountered several new diseases. They therefore adopted the African words for them. Such a word is dengue (as in dengue fever). This word comes from the Swahili phrase ka dinga pepo where ka means "a kind of...", dinga "sudden cramp-like seizure" and pepo "plague". The disease appeared in Cuba in 1827 and the name was popularly (but incorrectly) identified with the Spanish word dengue meaning "fastidiousness" or "prudery". From Cuba, the word traveled to the United States, and eventually to the English-speaking world. ![]() |
