Tetanus ![]() Adam named the animals--that was good. He could talk about them, take better care, could avoid problem animals and benefit from them too. (wool, eggs, fur, tools, meat, etc.) What if we can name illnesses in all kinds of languages? Then we could "talk" about them better and alleviate suffering before an illness becomes a problem. Here we go... Let's name another international illness with Bible syllables! TE-TA-NUS - Scientific Latin Name Lockjaw - common English name for Tetanus (TE and TA are faily easy. The -nus ending is more of a problem. -nis, -nas, - nus at the end of an English word are weak and not stressed. They sound almost the same. Not so in other languages. (We ran across this problem with VI-RUS in the book "Health Words in the Word". Italian, for one, changes the -rus to -ro. Same thing for -nus. Italian would change this to -no. BUT--you are intelligent and you can try out the possible syllables to come up with a suitable one, if you need it.) TE TE is found in TE-MAN; TE-KOA; TE-RAH; TE-RESH; and in TE-TRARCH in the Bible. (Don't know how to find these words in the Bible? Try a book concordance or an online Bible concordance!) TE-trarch - Luke 3:1,19; Acts 3:1 те - тетрарх(а) тетрарх(ом) - Russian (local wording of another Russian translation is not suitable for "te" syllable) (local wording not suitable for "te" syllable) - Vietnamese TA TA is found in TA-BOR; TA-BI-THA, TA-LI-THA TA-bitha - Acts 9:36 + 40 Та - Тавифа - Russian TA-litha - Mark 5:41 та - талифа/Талита - Russian -NUS There's Tyrannus in Acts 19:9 Тиранна (Tiranna) - Russian Тиранну (Tirannu)- Russian Tyrannos - Swedish In many languages that change endings, like Russian, it is unlikely that you'll get writing pronounced like the Latin -nus. Ex: Russian has different sounds at the end: nu and na in different translations. Maybe there's a better Bible word, but I haven't found it. Since English -nus could sound like -nis, -nos or -nas, you could try: Stepha-nas - н++ - Стефан Стефаново (-novo) Стефанов(-nov) - Russian With our syllables and "u" from Tirannu, for our best guess at Russian Tetanus we'd get: Те - та - ну+ If we add the common s sound we'd get: Тетанус I tried this guess in a search engine. This word brought up tetanus webpages for Bulgarian. That particular spelling for Russian in Cyrillic font does not seem to be the most popular translation. The search also brings up a Russian encyclopedia that gives the word Tétanos as being Greek. Google translations for Tetanus in about 30 languages The popular Russian online translation online is: Столбняк for Tetanus. That word brings up most Russian webpages and image pages on the topic. International Immunization posters re: tetanus Tetanus is caused by a BAC-TE-RI-A (syllables in the book). It is a cause of useless death of many newborns and their mothers, especially in warm countries. Rusty nails and soil can harbour this bacteria too. So get yourself immunized. Your doctor has the information. Please pray that tetanus will be licked soon everywhere. ![]() |
