"Health Words in the Word" Book Updates
Swine Flu - 2009
First some wording "updates" regarding this "new" influenza using language talents.
The intention is to add more information daily. But ... there are only 24 hours in a day!

In June 2009, there is much influenza in the world. What is worrisome is that there are at least 5 countries reporting confirmed cases that have avian flu in birds (H5N1) and swine flu in humans(H1N1). They are Bangladesh, Egypt, India in West Bengal, Indonesia and Vietnam. It seems also that certain parts of Africa are chronically underreporting. Lord Jesus, have mercy.

The swine flu out of Mexico is in all parts of the world. This influenza has markings of swine, bird and human flus.

Follow the directives of medical experts tempered by love of yourself AND others.

We should strive to communicate with all peoples of the world with all possible languages so we can warn them about this "flu". We may save the lives of people we reach in this way. We can save lives, perhaps even our own.

***
But how?

How can we reach those at the "ends of the earth"?
Here is a "Words from the Bible" method.

How do we find:
**New** illness of--pigs--(out)of "ME-HI-CO" (pronunciation of "Mexico" in Spanish)?
(pigs=swine)

"New illness of pigs" has already been touched on in the book "Health Words in the Word". See Pages 20 and 25.

Some references:
new: 1 Corinthians 5:7
illness of: Galatians 4:13,(14)+ OT refs
pigs: Luke 15:16
of ...(a country) -- Acts 20:18; Revelation 1:4
ME syllable with a short e is found in: Melea + Menna of Luke 3:31
HI syllable with a short i is found in: Hierapolis of Colossians 4:12
KO or CO syllable is found in Colossians and Corinthians

Instead of the ME"HI"CO syllables, you can also use ME-Ke-SI-CO syllables to approximate the English transliteration.
ME and CO syllables see above.
Ke - with short e, is found in Akeldama of Acts 1:19
SI - with short i, is found in SI-meon in Luke 2:28 and Revelation 7:7

To have a more precise description, instead of "illness" we could use "VI-RUS" or "VI-RU-Se" and extend the list of vectors:
New "virus" of pigs, birds and (great numbers of) people (out) of ME-HI-CO.

More Bible references than the above ones:
VI-RUS - see syllable search P.21 and 22 in the book
of birds - Ecclesiastes 12:4
(great numbers of) people - Acts 11:21,24,26

*****
There are many wordings that can help after having named the pertinent illness. See the book.

The symptoms apparently are:
fever - See Chapter 15 of Health Words in the Word

sore throat - "My throat is dry." is on P. 123 of the book - a more specific wording would be nice!

cough - not in the book

and sometimes
diarrhea = dysentery - P. 123 of the book
and
vomiting (- not in the book)

***
Let's see:
The word "cough" or "coughing" is NOT in the Bible.
Describing a cough, you may make the statements.
You can not swallow.
You can not speak.
You can "try to" vomit/(spit out).
Water to drink? - Daniel 1:12
Nothing but .... water to drink? - Daniel 1:12

The Bible does use the word "choke" in 7 references. Translations use words like "suffocate" or "strangle", so this is not a good word to use in the case of this swine flu.

The symptom of
vomit is found in Isaiah 28:8 in the OT and in 2 Peter 2:22 in the NT.

"sore throat" is not in the Bible. BUT, we can adapt the
My throat is dry. of Psalm 63:3 to:

My throat is ... sick. - sick (adj.) < Matthew 25:36

My throat...has...a discharge / spit(ting). - Psalm 63:3 + (no time to look for the refs.)

My throat is "covered with sores". - Ps. 63:3 + Luke 16:20
This description is probably to strong a wording.

*****
All these part phrases have Bible references. There is not enough time to add them all now.

Tamiflu and Relenza are medications that are apparently useful against this new flu.

The book does not have the TA-MI-Fe-Lu Bible syllable references.

So here they are:
TA - TA-bitha - Acts 9:36,40
- TA-litha cumi. - Mark 5:41
MI - MI-letus - 2 Timothy 4:20
Fe - Fe-lice (Italian) - P. 158 of the book
LU - LU-cas, LU-cius LU-dim - Page 158 of the book

There is not enough time to add the Bible references of the syllables of:
RE-LE-Ne-ZA
If needed, you too can search out the refs to find suitable other language wordings. There is little time for me to find some examples just now.

If it is a flu involving still other animals, then those animal names can added to the description.

*****
ON THE TRAIL OF HEALTH WORDS DESCRIBING THE
INCUBATION PERIOD, the SYMPTOMS PERIOD and the RESOLUTION PERIOD OF AN ILLNESS...

Incubation of this new influenza is 24 to 48 hours. The length of Bible hours and even "days" is different from ours. It is better to state with a different unit of time: "days and nights" meaning "days including nights":

"1 or 2 days and nights"

"OR" is found in phrases like "good or bad", "young or old" and "boy or girl".

There are "3 days and nights" that Jonah was in the fish. There are OT (Jonah 1:17) and NT (Matthew 12:40)refs!
There are "40 days and nights" of Moses on the top of the mountain in the OT and "40 days and nights" of Jesus' fasting in the desert (Matthew 4:2.

Surely, you, too, can find the words for 1 as well as 2 in your Bible, and then even in a Bible of a different language!
**
It takes #/eleven days from ____ to _____. - Deuteronomy 1:2

Il y a #/onze journées depuis ____, jusqu'à _____. - French
Hay #/once días entre ____ y ____. - Spanish

By adding the appropriate number for the days and the "beginning" and "end" words also found in the Bible we could vary this sentence to:

H1N1/A - It takes # days (and nights) from BEGINNING to END.

More variations:
H1N1/A - Fever... takes # days and nights from BEGINNING to END.

*****
What time IS it???

Is it a time NOW of personal touch choice OR NOT?

A time to embrace
and/(or)
a time to shun embracing
- Ecclesiastes 3:5

un temps pour embrasser,
et/(ou)
un temps pour s'éloigner des embrassements - French

un tempo per abbracciare
e/(o)
un tempo per astenersi dagli abbracci - Italian

tiempo de abrazar
y/(o)
tiempo de abstenerse de abrazar - Spanish

Actually for this influenza situation I would turn the phrase around, add a NOT strategically and state:

a time to shun embracing
and
NOT a time to embrace
- Adding NOT and Bible Word Order Adaption

(C'est)
un temps pour s'éloigner des embrassements
et
NON un temps pour embrasser. - French
******

If you find useful Bible words or phrases to add here for fighting this flu, please add the information in the guest book. Thanx.
